Agroforestry Cacao in Belize One of the most rewarding moments on my trip to Belize so far was trekking through the jungle to a remote, 60 acres agroforestry cacao plot. Two years ago Firefly Chocolate was one of the two largest Kickstarter donors for this "demonstration farm", a commitment I made even before I built the chocolate studio. The intention of the farm is to pilot and test innovative permaculture techniques, to then share with local farmers to help improve their yields and livelihood. Already the results are incredible - in less than two years since planting there are many cacao pods on the trees and we had some absolutely delicious cacao fruit! And yes ... behind me is continuous rainforest all the way to Guatemala 🌿 Can't wait to return in coming years and see these trees grow!
